The Geneva Motor Show ignited more than just excitement this year. It triggered a group of Honda fans to rally up support to bring a vehicle to the U.S. for which it was not intended.
The topic at hand is the sleek and powerful Honda Civic Type R concept model that was revealed in Switzerland last week. It has design elements fit for stellar performance (enlarged grilles, hood vents, a large rear spoiler and widened fenders to fit 20-inch alloys and additional air vents) and it packs a direct-injected 2.0-liter turbo four churning out 276-horsepower.
What does it look like? Take a peek!
Americans want it (you know we'd love to have it front and center here at Charlie's Honda!), but they're not scheduled to have it. The Type R is set to launch in Europe next year because it's based on the European spec Civic hatchback. It will not come here...but could that change?
A Change.org petition is encouraging Honda to broaden its Type R horizon across the sea and bring it to the United States. Whether this will occur or not, we do not know, but you can bet we'll be on top of it via our blog!
