This morning, Honda issued a press release announcing its latest social media campaign. In recognition of April being Distracted Driving Awareness Month, the automaker is using the hashtag #PhoneDownEyesUp to introduce a series of videos that highlight the difficulties and dangers of distracted driving. The video series consists of six 20-second videos that demonstrate the campaign's main premise: if you can't text and complete an easy task, you certainly can't text and drive.
Each video features someone attempting to participate in various everyday activities like cutting hair, cleaning, cooking breakfast, gardening, and exercising. This videos will be shown throughout the month of April on the various social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. Additionally, Honda is releasing downloadable lock screen wallpapers to serve as reminders to put the phone down when behind the wheel.
"Honda is deeply committed to enhancing the safety of everyone on the road, so it's imperative that we encourage everyone to stay focused, and remind them about the dangers of texting and other potential distractions while behind the wheel," said Susie Rossick, Assistant Vice President of Marketing at Honda. "This campaign is intended to be both relatable and sharable content that will reach millennials and deliver an easy-to-understand message about the very human limitations we all have when it comes to driving while distracted."
